Seminole sprang from the shale and
sandstone which
became home to the Seminole Nation when Oklahoma was still known
as "Indian Territory." Its wide-open terrain
once served
the purposes of outlaws who roamed the range in search of their ill-gotten gain. The Greater Seminole Area
was one of Oklahoma's 22 "giant oil fields" and continues to be a viable part of
our state's economy.
